Funny that you mention that piece. I was just discussing that incident with a friend, and had decided to dust it off so it works with the new template. Thanks for the reminder!
I was in school down here in the 8th and 9th grades, but went back to Tennessee to finish high school, so I never took AVC. But I remember seniors taking it, and I was always curious about it. It was definitely local Florida culture: As far as I know, no other state required similar, but that could just be the limits of my knowledge.
