• Don Rickles, whom Mack and I saw once in Tunica. Joan Rivers opened. She was nasty with a capital C.


• Nina Hagen, whom I saw once at The Channel in Boston, c. 1990?


• Merv Griffin, who invented Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and who also once sang about coconuts.


• The Sex Pistols, the greatest punk rock band of all time, who once had the good sense to burn out, fade away, and let the vinyl do the talking. Unfortunately, commerce has other demands.


• Ron Paul, Republican candidate for president, and bone inducer to capital-L libertarians, everywhere. Ugh.


• Jay Leno, late-night talk-show host and purported comedian, who actually used to do funny standup.
